A high-level committee formed by the Higher Education Commission to improve the quality of engineering education and research visited University of Chakwal. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of University of Engineering and Technology Lahore.
The delegation included Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan, Dr. Muhammad Waqas, and Dr. Syed Mohsin Ali Kazmi. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration among higher education institutions and promote sustainable reforms in engineering education.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Farrukh Arslan Siddiqui along with Registrar Rana Abdul Majeed, Treasurer Muhammad Asif, and other university officials.
During the visit, a seminar titled �Reforms in Engineering Education and Research� was held under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Chakwal. Faculty members from the engineering and other departments participated in the session. Discussions focused on the challenges facing engineering education, curriculum modernization, enhancement of research standards, and strengthening industry-academia linkages. Speakers emphasized the need for institutional reforms to produce engineering graduates aligned with international standards.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Farrukh Arslan Siddiqui stated that the University of Chakwal is committed to implementing modern teaching and research reforms to improve the quality of engineering education. He highlighted that collaboration among higher education institutions is essential for sustainable academic development.
On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between University of Engineering and Technology Lahore and University of Chakwal to promote academic and research cooperation. Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in faculty exchange, joint research projects, co-supervision, student exchange programs, and sharing of advanced laboratories and research facilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said that collaboration with emerging institutions like the University of Chakwal would significantly contribute to improving the quality of engineering education and research in Pakistan. He reaffirmed the HEC committee�s commitment to ensuring practical reforms and recommendations for standardized engineering education across the country.
At the conclusion of the event, representatives of both institutions agreed that this partnership would mark the beginning of a new era in engineering education and research, contributing significantly to Pakistan�s academic and technological advancement.
