The Department of International Relations took its first step towards a greener and more sustainable future by launching its First-Semester Plantation Drive on 30th September 2026, introducing a meaningful departmental initiative that aims to make tree plantation a lasting tradition every September.
The initiative envisions a journey that goes beyond planting saplings for a day. Under this departmental vision, every year, first semester students will plant saplings and take responsibility for nurturing them throughout their four-year degree programme. As students progress through their academic journey, they will also witness the growth of the trees they planted, developing a lasting sense of responsibility, care, ownership and environmental awareness. The ultimate goal is to see these saplings grow into healthy trees that contribute to a greener university and a healthier environment.
The event was graced by Assistant Director Academics Mr. Irfan Azam, Assistant Professor Urdu Department Mr. Azmat, Head of the Department of International Relations Prof. M. Masood, and faculty members Ms. Sobea Tabassum, Ms. Lubaba Zahid, Mr. Aakif Ali, Mr. Faiz Ali Shah, Ms. Erum Noureen, and Ms. Aasifa Khalid, who participated alongside the students and supported this meaningful initiative.
The heart of this plantation drive was the enthusiasm, creativity and collective effort of the students of the Department of International Relations. Students from all semesters actively participated in making the event memorable, contributing their time, ideas and dedication. From preparing informative charts and decorating the boards to arranging the tables and designing the standees, every effort reflected their teamwork, creativity and commitment to making the initiative more engaging and meaningful. Their participation transformed the event into more than a plantation activity; it became a collective expression of environmental responsibility and departmental unity.
Our First-Semester Plantation Drive, launched on 30th September 2026, envisions saplings nurtured by students throughout their four year journey. Together, we will beautify our university, build responsible character, and advance sustainable development, leaving a living legacy in which the growth of every tree reflects the growth of every learner.
This initiative represents the belief that environmental protection begins with small, consistent actions and grows through collective responsibility. Planting a tree is only the beginning; protecting it, nurturing it and ensuring its survival are what make the effort meaningful. By connecting students with the long term care of their saplings, the department aims to encourage habits that extend beyond university grounds and into everyday life.
A greener campus is not built in a day, it is grown through dedication, awareness and responsibility.Every sapling planted today is a step towards cleaner air, a healthier ecosystem, greater biodiversity and a more sustainable tomorrow. Through this initiative, the Department of International Relations hopes to cultivate not only trees, but also a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who understand that protecting nature is a shared responsibility.
Plant Today. Nurture Tomorrow. Grow a Greener Future.
